Civil Engineering Inspector

Thompson Engineering is seeking a dedicated Senior Construction Inspector to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring that construction projects adhere to established plans and specifications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for meticulously documenting construction activities and verifying compliance with project requirements. Daily responsibilities include preparing detailed reports on labor and equipment usage, as well as recording significant interactions with contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of ongoing work to confirm alignment with project specifications.
- Evaluate the quality of completed installations to ensure they meet industry standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspection activities.
- Create sketches for any construction deviations and update master plans accordingly.
- Test and inspect materials used in the project.
- Interpret project specifications related to materials and workmanship.
- Safely operate a company vehicle to travel to various job sites.
- Adhere to Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, including safety policies and procedures.
- Participate actively in safety meetings and discussions.
- Ensure consistent and punctual attendance.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a four-year degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in construction inspection or a related field.
- Experience with ALDOT Bridge construction is mandatory.
- Ability to obtain certifications in Alabama for Concrete, Roadway Technician, Earthworks, QCI, and MUTCD.
- ACI Certification is a plus.
- Proficient in intermediate math and geometry for calculations.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds.
- Required to stand for extended periods, up to eight hours daily.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle to job sites.
