Position: Assistant Shift Manager (3rd Shift)

Reporting To: Shift Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Shift Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective, safe, and precise loading of delivery vehicles while executing the associated warehouse responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leadership and Oversight: Directs, manages, supports, and inspires the Warehouse Shift team through transparent communication and a dedication to collaborative management.
2. Safety and Training: Takes responsibility for safety protocols and oversees the training and safety of the Warehouse shift. Advocates for and maintains a secure work environment daily. Assists in ensuring the safety and security of the facilities.
3. Supervision: Aids the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all warehouse personnel to guarantee efficient performance of their assigned tasks.
4. Policy Compliance: Ensures all warehouse staff adhere to company policies, procedures, and dress standards.
5. Loading Operations: Safely and accurately loads all trucks for the day. Investigates any discrepancies regarding pallets, cases, or license plates. Addresses any spatial issues with the Warehouse and Delivery manager.
6. Loss Prevention: Implements measures to prevent product loss due to theft, damage, or aging.
7. Inbound Management: Ensures all incoming goods are received and stored appropriately each day. Maintains proper stock rotation in aisles.
8. Breakage Management: Addresses all breakage incidents occurring during the shift.
9. Facility Maintenance: Ensures cleanliness and upkeep of all areas during the shift.
10. Incident Reporting: Reports any accidents to the Warehouse Manager without delay.
11. Security Oversight: Maintains the security of the warehouse and premises while on duty and before departure.
12. Compliance with Safety Practices: Executes all work activities in line with established safety practices, policies, and procedures.
13. Additional Duties: Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY ROLE
1. Manages the daily workflow of the shift.
2. Reports directly to the Shift Manager.
3. Utilizes strengths-based management to help each supervised individual recognize their strengths and weaknesses, applying their strengths in daily tasks.
4. Ensures opportunities for personal and professional development for each supervised employee.
5. Sets clear expectations for all supervised staff.
6. Models adherence to the company's Mission and Values while holding staff accountable for understanding and practicing these values.
7. Conducts regular coaching sessions and annual performance evaluations for supervised staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Self-motivated individual capable of managing others effectively.
2. Ability to collaborate across various departments.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities.
5. Reliable transportation access. If driving for company purposes, must possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Must pass a background check, MVR, and drug screening.
6. Proven ability to:

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including community professionals.

• Function effectively as a member of the warehouse leadership team.

• Communicate effectively with diverse internal and external audiences in person and through various electronic platforms.

• Manage time and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Frequently required to walk and communicate (50%+ of time).
2. Occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands for handling objects, and reach with hands and arms.
3. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (50%+ of time).
4. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
5. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment and airborne particles (less than 25% of time). The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet.
6. Frequently travels throughout company sites (more than 50% of time).
7. Occasional weekend and/or overtime work may be required, especially during peak seasons or when onboarding new business.
