POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Shift Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective, safe, and precise loading of delivery vehicles while executing various warehouse responsibilities associated with the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. **Leadership and Oversight:** Directs, manages, and encourages the warehouse team during the shift through transparent communication and a focus on collaborative management.
2. **Safety and Compliance:** Assumes responsibility for adhering to safety protocols and overseeing the training and safety of the warehouse team. Strives to maintain a secure work environment daily and supervises the safety of the facilities.
3. **Supervision of Warehouse Staff:** Assists the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all warehouse personnel to ensure efficient task execution.
4. **Policy Adherence:** Ensures all warehouse staff comply with company policies, procedures, and dress standards.
5. **Loading Operations:** Safely and accurately load all delivery vehicles for the day, addressing any discrepancies in pallets, cases, or license plates. Communicates any spatial issues with the Warehouse and Delivery Manager.
6. **Loss Prevention:** Implements measures to prevent product loss due to theft, damage, or aging.
7. **Inventory Management:** Ensures that incoming shipments are received and stored properly each day, maintaining organized and rotated aisles.
8. **Breakage Management:** Addresses any breakage that occurs during the shift.
9. **Cleanliness and Maintenance:** Ensures all areas are kept clean and orderly throughout the shift.
10. **Accident Reporting:** Reports any incidents to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
11. **Security Protocols:** Maintains the security of the warehouse and premises while on duty and before departure.
12. **Safe Work Practices:** Conducts all tasks in accordance with established safety practices, policies, and procedures.
13. **Additional Duties:** Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages the daily workflow of the shift.
2. Reports directly to the Shift Manager.
3. Utilizes strengths-based management to help each team member recognize their strengths and areas for improvement.
4. Provides opportunities for personal and professional development for each supervised employee.
5. Sets clear expectations for all team members.
6. Models adherence to the company's Mission and Values, holding staff accountable for understanding and practicing these values.
7. Conducts regular coaching sessions and annual performance evaluations for supervised staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Self-motivated individual with the ability to manage others effectively.
2. Ability to collaborate across various departments.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
5. Reliable transportation is required. Must possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance if driving for company purposes. Background checks, MVR, and drug screenings are mandatory.
6. Proven ability to:

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including community professionals.

• Function effectively as a member of the warehouse leadership team.

• Communicate effectively with diverse audiences in person and through electronic means.

• Manage time and tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Frequently required to walk and communicate (50%+ of the time).
2. Occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands for handling objects, and reach with arms.
3. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (50%+ of the time).
4. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
5. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment and airborne particles (less than 25% of the time). The noise level is typically quiet.
6. Frequently travels throughout company sites (more than 50% of the time).
7. Occasional weekend and/or overtime work may be required, particularly during peak seasons or when onboarding new business.
