POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Shift Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective, safe, and precise loading of delivery vehicles while executing the designated warehouse responsibilities associated with this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leadership and Oversight: Directs, manages, and inspires the warehouse team through transparent communication and a commitment to collaborative management.
2. Safety and Compliance: Takes responsibility for safety measures and oversees training and safety protocols for the warehouse team. Ensures a secure working environment on a daily basis.
3. Supervision: Assists the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all warehouse personnel to guarantee efficient task execution.
4. Policy Adherence: Ensures all warehouse staff comply with company regulations, procedures, and dress standards.
5. Loading Operations: Accurately loads all delivery vehicles for the day. Investigates any discrepancies in pallets, cases, or license plates, and addresses space issues with management.
6. Loss Prevention: Implements measures to prevent product loss due to theft, damage, or expiration.
7. Inventory Management: Ensures inbound products are received and organized daily, maintaining proper stock rotation.
8. Breakage Management: Addresses any breakage incidents that occur during the shift.
9. Facility Maintenance: Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of all areas during the shift.
10. Incident Reporting: Immediately reports any accidents to the Warehouse Manager.
11. Security: Maintains the security of the warehouse and premises during and after the shift.
12. Work Practices: Adheres to safe work practices, policies, and procedures in all tasks.
13. Additional Duties: Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
1. Manages the daily operations of the shift.
2. Reports directly to the Shift Manager.
3. Employs strengths-based management to help team members recognize and utilize their strengths in daily tasks.
4. Facilitates opportunities for professional development for all supervised staff.
5. Sets clear expectations for team members.
6. Models adherence to the company's mission and values, holding staff accountable for understanding and practicing these values.
7. Conducts regular coaching sessions and annual performance evaluations for supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Self-motivated individual with effective management skills.
2. Ability to collaborate across various departments.
3. Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
4. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
5. Reliable transportation required; must possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance if driving for company purposes. Must pass background checks and drug screening.
6. Proven ability to:
• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including community professionals.
• Function effectively as part of the warehouse leadership team.
• Communicate clearly with diverse audiences in person and through electronic means.
• Manage time efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Frequently required to walk and communicate.
2. Occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands for handling objects, and reach with arms.
3. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
4. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
5. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment and airborne particles; the noise level is typically quiet.
6. Frequently travels throughout company sites.
7. May require occasional weekend or overtime work during peak seasons or when onboarding new business.
