POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and functionality of the hotel facilities. This role demands a detail-oriented professional who can work independently and diligently to maintain the premises and communal areas, adhering to all health and safety protocols to safeguard our assets, staff, and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Address requests from the Chief Engineer and department supervisors
  • Conduct basic electrical maintenance (e.g., replace light bulbs, change batteries in locks)
  • Perform plumbing repairs to maintain system functionality (e.g., replace faucets, drains)
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems as needed
  • Execute manual repairs (e.g., door locks, window fixtures)
  • Implement ongoing preventative maintenance programs
  • Resolve maintenance issues and fulfill work orders
  • Carry out general upkeep tasks (e.g., landscaping, painting)
  • Possess knowledge of carpentry, painting, drywall, and carpet repair
  • Inspect property to identify current and potential maintenance needs
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping to ensure guest room equipment is operational
  • Comply with company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of one year in a related role or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills.

Skills:

  • Fundamental understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • General maintenance knowledge and methods
  • Proficiency with tools and common appliances
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Equipment Used:

  • Communication devices (computer, cell phone, radio)
  • General maintenance hand tools
  • Power tools (e.g., drills, saws)
  • Plumbing tools (e.g., solvents, plungers)
  • Pool maintenance equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Capacity to work on foot for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders for overhead tasks
  • Capability to kneel and crouch for floor-level tasks
  • Competence in troubleshooting and responding to guest needs professionally
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisors
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting manuals

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in various temperatures, including extreme heat and cold
  • Potential exposure to chemicals and electrical hazards
  • May encounter noisy environments and emergency situations
