Principal Finance Strategist

As a key contributor to our flagship offerings – Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Tax & Accounting, and Bloomberg Government – you will provide comprehensive reporting and analytical insights to stakeholders within Finance and across various business units.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the monthly financial close, facilitating business reporting and analytics, developing forecasts, and creating long-term strategic plans, in addition to supporting special projects for corporate units at Bloomberg Industry Group.


Key Responsibilities:
Act as the financial liaison for Engineering/Finance leadership and General Counsel.
Develop a thorough understanding of the business's financial and operational landscape, including its mission, products, services, clients, and initiatives.

Ensure the accuracy of reporting and adherence to both internal and external policies, which includes monitoring forecast precision, analyzing variance drivers, and delivering insightful commentary and analysis for both current and future financial periods.

Analyze extensive datasets; extract data and generate analyses to support business units in achieving long-term objectives.

Provide essential support to key stakeholders and manage financial operations during periodic forecasting and annual planning cycles.
Prepare trend and variance analyses, interpreting data and advising key stakeholders on optimization strategies.
Assist in managing special projects with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in financial planning & analysis, business analytics, or corporate finance.

Exceptional analytical capabilities with a keen ability to gather, organize, analyze, and disseminate substantial amounts of information with precision and attention to detail.

Proficient understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and various financial analysis methodologies, including trend and variance analyses.
Experience with large integrated ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) is advantageous.
Familiarity with Salesforce, Workday, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar platforms is preferred.
Experience in a subscription-based business model is a plus.
