Wastewater Operations Technician

Compensation:
The hourly pay rate ranges from $32.00 to $36.00.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of Project Management, the role involves the daily operation and upkeep of the wastewater treatment facility, including all associated infrastructure, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical operations and maintenance activities related to the wastewater facility and its infrastructure.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on all equipment and systems.
- Carry out wastewater sampling and laboratory monitoring in accordance with project and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all equipment and processes are maintained and functioning optimally.
- Adhere to safety protocols and corporate policies while performing duties.
- Be available for weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts as required.
- Respond to emergencies and work additional hours when necessary.
- Support the project and department in fostering a culture of safety and engagement.
- Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
- Operate project vehicles and heavy machinery as needed.
- Perform cleaning and housekeeping tasks across all facilities.
- Complete other assigned duties as necessary.
Work Environment:
The position requires work both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions. Employees may encounter noise, dust, fumes, and other environmental factors. Tasks may involve working on uneven surfaces and around moving machinery.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- 2-3 years of experience in the water or wastewater sector or related fields.
- Experience in laboratory or utility environments is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to interpret data from various equipment.
- Familiarity with computer applications, including Windows, Office, and SCADA systems.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to implement corrective actions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and understand technical manuals.
- Experience operating specialized tools relevant to departmental needs.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Must prioritize safety and be capable of working independently.
Certifications:
- Valid CA Grade IIA or higher Wastewater Treatment Operator License.
- Valid CA Driver's License with the ability to meet risk management criteria.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to communicate effectively, stand, walk, and perform manual tasks. The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and involves specific vision capabilities.
