Position Summary:
The Wastewater Production Supervisor operates under the general supervision of the Chief Plant Operator (CPO) and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and repair activities at the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility (ECLWRF) and associated systems. This role includes managing work service requests, coordinating maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations as well as client quality standards. The supervisor will also manage chemical orders and supplies, provide guidance to shift leads, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Chief Plant Operator and occasionally act in this capacity.
  • Receive guidance from the CPO and Production Manager.
  • Supervise four shift leads and twelve operators.
  • Perform both operational and supervisory duties, including covering for shift leads as necessary.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment and treatment processes.
  • Train operators and assist in their development.
  • Manage performance evaluations for crew members.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and other departments for special projects.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment and process controls as needed.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Oversee the documentation and reporting of operational activities.
  • Participate in emergency response coordination.

Work Environment:
The role involves regular exposure to outdoor conditions, moderate noise levels, and potential exposure to various substances and machinery. Adherence to health and safety guidelines is mandatory, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, or environmental science. A minimum of ten years of experience in wastewater or water treatment operations, including at least two years in a supervisory role, is required.

Knowledge and Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate supervisory experience, knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, and familiarity with relevant regulations. Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and use of computer systems is essential. Candidates must also be available for on-call duties and emergency response as needed.

Certifications:
Candidates must obtain a State Water Resources Control Board Grade IV in Wastewater Treatment within 18 months of employment and possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds and navigating uneven surfaces. Specific vision abilities and technical dexterity are necessary for conducting analytical procedures.
