Territory Manager

About the Role:
The Territory Manager is a key position within our sales team, responsible for managing a customer base of veterinary clinics and specialty pet retail stores. This role requires a strong understanding of the pet nutrition market and the ability to build relationships with customers to drive sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a customer base of veterinary clinics and specialty pet retail stores to grow net sales, volume, market share, and brand recommended most often (BRMO)
- Ensure excellent coverage and 6Ps execution to drive sales growth and improve product mix
- Promote and merchandise Hill's products and services, implementing the Perfect Clinic/Store program where applicable
- Educate customers through detailing and in-clinic seminars on the economic and nutritional value of Hill's pet diets and products
- Contribute to pets' wellbeing by driving endorsement of our products
- Develop creative customer-specific strategies and joint plans to achieve results, based on customer analysis
- Leverage Hill's commercial and professional programs to drive product experience, awareness, and sales growth
- Roll out new product launches and detail products to clinic staff to increase in-store presence and market leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Driver's License, valid and in-state
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
- Strong selling skills, ability to persuade, negotiate, and close
- Excellent time management, planning, and budgeting skills
- Aim to grow and build a territory and a passion for pets
- Good analytical skills and basic understanding of business and business terminology
- Good work ethic, professional appearance, and approach, high integrity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
- At least 2 years of sales experience or
- At least 2 years of vet hospital experience or
- Recent commercial internship or
- Sales experience in animal health
- Certified Veterinary Technician-NAVTA
- Ability to relocate for future opportunities
Travel Requirements:
Up to 50% expected percentage of travel
90% expected percentage of time in the field
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $64,000 - $99,000 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors, including experience, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and office/market location.
In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package, including:
- Insurance: Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Disability insurance plans
- Retirement Plans: Colgate's 401(k) plan, with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
- Vacation/PTO: Minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
- Paid Holidays: Minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
- Paid Sick Leave: Minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
- Paid Parental Leave: Up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
