JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Job Routing Development:
    1. Design and maintain comprehensive job routings for the production of rotating machinery.
    2. Examine engineering schematics, specifications, and client needs to create precise and effective routings.
    3. Outline and document the order of operations for essential processes such as welding, machining, assembly, and external processing.
    4. Estimate production times based on historical data, experiences, and collaboration with shop-floor personnel.
  2. Process Optimization:
    1. Assess current manufacturing workflows and job routings to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
    2. Execute process modifications to boost efficiency, shorten production times, and lower expenses.
    3. Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies to refine operations and eliminate inefficiencies.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    1. Engage closely with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure the feasibility of new products.
    2. Coordinate with production supervisors and team leaders to resolve any routing-related challenges.
    3. Communicate with the procurement department regarding external vendors for processing needs and ensure quality and timely delivery of outsourced tasks.
  4. Documentation and Control:
    1. Keep routing documentation current and accurate within the manufacturing information system.
    2. Ensure all modifications to job routings are documented and communicated effectively.
    3. Oversee and manage job routing records to adhere to company policies and industry regulations.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    1. Guarantee that job routings include necessary quality control measures and inspections.
    2. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any issues related to process adherence and product quality.
    3. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for any deviations or non-conformities in processes.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Lead or engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at process enhancement and cost reduction.
    2. Conduct regular evaluations of job routings and make adjustments based on feedback and performance metrics.
    3. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies and processes.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a comparable technical position within a manufacturing environment in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or production planning, ideally in a rotating equipment manufacturing setting. Preference for job-shop or Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environments.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing information systems and a quick learner with ERP software.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background verification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP Systems, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Will be an ERP super-user; strong computer skills are essential for success.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, and external processing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Assertive and capable of driving urgency when challenges arise with new components.
  • Ability to foster teamwork among groups and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to drive issues to resolution and complete tasks in a professional and compliant manner.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet or exceed established departmental standards.
  • Adaptable and willing to be cross-trained in all job functions.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Primarily office-based role, working on a computer, with regular visits to the shop floor.
