Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for determining the methodology and designs used to produce parts, as well as creating drawings and setup sheets for shop use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzes processes to identify opportunities for improvement and implements changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Determines the most effective methodology for producing parts, considering factors such as material selection, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Investigates defects in the manufacturing process and develops corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Creates and maintains part routings, setup sheets, and operator work instructions (OWIs) to support a wide range of manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes suspect material and parts to determine their suitability for use in production.
- Provides hands-on support of manufacturing processes throughout the shop, ensuring that production meets quality and delivery requirements.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, with experience preferred but not required.
- A bias for action and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and techniques, including milling, turning, and laser cutting.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques is a plus.
- Knowledge of various process types, including multi-axis milling, turning, stamping, welding, and more.
- Knowledge of different aerospace material types, such as Aluminum, Stainless, Titanium, and High Nickel Alloys.
- Experience working with 3D models and the ability to read and interpret customer-supplied drawings, models, and prints.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Able to think critically and solve complex problems.
