Your responsibilities will include leveraging hands-on shop floor experience, data analysis, engineering trials, and collaborative efforts across functions to assess product and process performance while leading technical problem-solving initiatives aimed at driving improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support on the shop floor for product and process issues in a high-tech manufacturing setting.
  • Oversee daily product performance metrics, including quality, yield, and cost results, while conducting real-time reviews and addressing urgent issues.
  • Establish robust product and process quality acceptance criteria by engaging with customers and stakeholders, utilizing practical performance data.
  • Analyze scrap and rework data to prioritize problem-solving efforts and develop clear strategies for achieving business objectives.
  • Lead engineering studies and projects to deepen understanding and optimize quality and cost drivers for assigned products and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineers to enhance process design, setup, and controls, ensuring stable and optimized product performance.
  • Support the production team by actively listening to and acting on feedback regarding process improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with senior and executive leadership regarding the status of improvement projects, operational planning, and strategic decision-making.

This position requires support for 2nd and 3rd shift activities, which may involve regular nighttime and weekend work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering/Technology (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering, military, or technical experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Proficiency in statistical tools and concepts for data analysis (e.g., Minitab, Cpk, VBA, ANOVA, Excel) to facilitate data-driven problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in independently planning, executing, and analyzing engineering design experiments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders to reach consensus.
  • Background in the aerospace industry, particularly in ceramics and/or turbine airfoils.
  • Familiarity with NX/SolidWorks for modeling and GOM/PolyWorks for product characteristic evaluation.
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to identify problems and opportunities, working both independently and collaboratively to drive solutions.
