Overview

Position Summary
The Vice President of Research Integrity is tasked with the development, implementation, and oversight of the research integrity program at MD Anderson. This role is crucial in promoting ethical research practices, providing training, and addressing any allegations of research misconduct in compliance with legal standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Cultivate a research atmosphere that encourages ethical research practices and educational activities.
2. Design and deliver training programs on responsible research conduct to MD Anderson's workforce, while actively discouraging misconduct.
3. Collaborate with executive leadership to equip the workforce with the necessary tools and systems for ethical research practices.
4. Address any indications of research misconduct promptly, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and legal requirements.

General Duties
- Implement practical measures to foster an environment that promotes responsible research conduct and swiftly addresses any allegations of misconduct.
- Maintain written policies for responding to allegations of research misconduct and ensure compliance with funding and oversight agencies.
- Educate the workforce on MD Anderson's policies regarding research misconduct and the commitment to uphold these standards.
- Take necessary interim actions during investigations to safeguard public health and the integrity of research.

Qualifications
Education:
Required: MD, PhD in biomedical sciences, or Juris Doctor.
Experience:
Required: Minimum of five years in administrative or research leadership roles within an academic or medical institution, including experience with sensitive information and complex investigations.
Preferred: Five to eight years as a researcher in an academic medical center, with experience in managing research misconduct proceedings.

Skills:
Strong organizational and communication skills relevant to a large academic medical center, along with knowledge of policies and regulations governing research integrity.
