Role Summary

The Crisis Support Volunteer will advocate for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, providing crisis intervention and ongoing support both in-person and via phone. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments of survivors' situations and developing safety plans.
  • Performing general administrative tasks related to client assistance.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of client interactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Helpline and SARP: 65%
  • Client Appointments: 25%
  • Documentation: 10%
Essential Duties
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy services during walk-in hours and through the Helpline.
  • Offer crisis intervention counseling, resources, referrals, and safety planning.
  • Deliver medical and legal advocacy, along with emergency support services.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and outreach events as required.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of SafePlace Advocate Core Training within six months of hire.
  • Experience in providing culturally relevant services.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and internet proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual capabilities.
  • Experience in support group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Demands

The role requires regular communication, sitting, and using hands for various tasks. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and maintain a positive attitude in a crisis environment.
