Homeless Support Advocate

Job Summary:
Interfaith Works is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Homeless Support Advocate. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and clean environment for our guests, while also empowering them to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Empower Guests: Provide support and crisis intervention through trauma-informed care, empowering guests to make informed decisions and take control of their lives.
- Resource Information: Provide guests with accurate and up-to-date information on local resources, services, and opportunities, helping them to navigate the complex system and access the support they need.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with guests, staff, and external agencies to ensure seamless coordination and support.
- Shelter Operations: Assist with daily shelter operations, including cleaning, maintenance, and inventory management, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all guests.
- Documentation: Accurately record and maintain guest information, incident reports, and other relevant documentation, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other support staff and external agencies to provide comprehensive support and services to our guests.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in social work, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with homeless populations, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care highly desirable.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform other physical tasks as required.
