Role Summary

The Board Member will actively participate in the governance of SafePlace, sharing in the legal, financial, and strategic responsibilities that guide our organization. While operational management may be delegated, the Board retains ultimate authority over policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in monthly Board meetings and other relevant committee gatherings.
  2. Oversee financial stewardship, including the review and approval of the annual budget.
  3. Engage in fundraising efforts to support SafePlace's initiatives.
  4. Ensure the delivery and maintenance of SafePlace's programs and services.
  5. Review and amend organizational by-laws and policies as necessary.
  6. Support the recruitment and evaluation of the Executive Director.
  7. Guide the strategic direction of SafePlace.
  8. Facilitate the effective functioning of the Board through training and recruitment of new members.
  9. Conduct all duties with cultural responsiveness and sensitivity.
