Publishing Assistant

Abrams Books is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Managing Editorial Intern to support the Managing Editorial teams for both adult and children's titles. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the book publishing industry, from manuscript acquisition to marketing and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Update title information in our database
- Verify corrections in book layouts
- Proofread book elements or marketing materials
- Code manuscripts for Design
- Request and review cover copy
- Create copyright pages
- Attend weekly department meetings
- Provide overall assistance to the department
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus/major in English, publishing, or a related field
- Located in the New York City area and able to come into our office on a hybrid basis, especially during the first training
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Proactive with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Motivated to learn, grow, research, solve problems, and work closely with the Managing Editorial staff
