About the Role

Abrams Books for Young Readers is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented spring intern to join our Kids Editorial team. As an editorial assistant, you will work closely with our experienced editors to gain hands-on experience in the book publishing industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation for seasonal list launch, including researching competitive titles and drafting fact sheets.
  • Review submissions across various formats and levels, and write readers' reports.
  • Draft rejection letters and prepare materials for meetings.
  • Shadow regularly scheduled meetings, such as Editorial Meeting, Cover Meeting, and Pub Board.
  • Take minutes at our weekly Editorial Meeting and provide feedback on materials.
  • Perform miscellaneous special projects, including proofreading passes and providing editorial notes.
  • Provide administrative support, as needed, including pulling sales info and reports.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Specific interest in children's books.
