Position Overview

The Emergency Medical Services Education Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the training and education of emergency medical personnel. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating various educational programs aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of EMS professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of EMS protocol education and training courses.
  • Organize and instruct refresher courses for EMTs, Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics.
  • Lead initial training sessions for First Responders, EMTs, Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics.
  • Conduct American Heart Association (AHA) courses, including Heart Saver, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Oversee the teaching of ITLS, PEPP, ASLS, AMLS, and GEMS courses.
  • Participate in community health initiatives, including health fairs and injury prevention programs.
  • Assist in the creation of educational materials and presentations as required.
  • Support the Medical Director and Physicians in delivering EMS lectures at local continuing education sessions.
  • Set up and maintain essential equipment for educational programs.
  • Engage in additional educational programs and meetings as directed by the EMS Institute leadership.
  • Conduct tracking and data collection as necessary.
  • Maintain current licenses and certifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific responsibilities during orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate's Degree (Preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in municipal Fire/EMS services.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in EMS-I.
  • AHA Instructor certification (Required).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent client service, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (Preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general office equipment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Ohio Driver's License (Required).
  • State of Ohio Paramedic certification (Required).
