Manager of Central Sterile Processing Education

The Manager of Central Sterile Processing Education plays a pivotal role in overseeing the orientation, certification preparation, and ongoing education of all Central Sterile Processing (CSP) personnel within their designated area. This position is also tasked with managing quality assurance initiatives to ensure the safe and effective delivery of sterile processing services.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supervising CSP Education staff to ensure satisfactory performance and address any concerns that arise. This includes overseeing workflow to guarantee successful outcomes for customers and assisting in the development and scheduling of educational programs.
- Conducting regular inspections of staff work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Monitoring daily workloads and production requirements to optimize efficiency.
- Providing continuous education and annual competency assessments for CSP Educators and staff as necessary.
- Creating and maintaining a standardized orientation program, training all CSP educators on this program, and ensuring compliance.
- Developing career exploration programs for high school students to introduce them to potential career paths in the field.
- Establishing and maintaining an annual GPS program for the CSP education initiative.
- Facilitating regular meetings with CSP Educator staff to ensure consistency in educational offerings across locations.
- Coordinating the implementation and upkeep of an instrument tracking system.
- Assisting the Director in maintaining departmental performance standards and implementing process improvements.
- Reporting any policy and procedure issues to the Director for resolution, in accordance with industry regulations.
- Fostering positive relationships with management, patients, colleagues, and customers.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates who have graduated from a Sterile Processing program.
Required Credentials, Licenses, and Certifications:
National or International Sterile Processing Certification is mandatory.
Experience and Knowledge:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a hospital sterile processing environment is required, with prior management experience preferred. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills and possess a foundational understanding of AAMI ST79 Standards.
Special Skills and Equipment Knowledge:
Knowledge of sterilization equipment, washers, instruments, and tray assembly is essential. Candidates should also possess good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
- Constantly standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of equipment.
- Regular climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Constantly reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
- Frequent talking and hearing.
- Repetitive motions and coordination of eye, hand, and foot.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
