Role Overview: What Does a Plant Care Specialist Do?

As a Plant Care Specialist, reliability, diligence, and the ability to work autonomously are essential. Daily responsibilities include visiting diverse client locations to provide comprehensive plant care, which encompasses grooming, rotating, and watering tasks. A genuine commitment to customer service and plant health is crucial in this role.

The position encompasses three primary responsibilities: (1) Plant maintenance, (2) Supporting the installation of plantscape and hygiene services, and (3) Holiday decoration installation.

Plant Maintenance and Air Quality Management

  • Regularly visit client sites as per the established route plan.
  • Safely operate a service vehicle in both urban and rural environments.
  • Allocate up to 50% of your work hours to driving.
  • Attend to all designated plants on the scheduled day - Water, prune, and fertilize as necessary; trim and clear debris from planters; accurately gauge soil moisture using a soil probe.
  • Apply trained techniques to deliver appropriate watering based on lighting conditions and plant needs.
  • Maintain optimal light conditions and plant orientation.
  • Ensure cleanliness of plants and display containers, free from dust and debris.
  • Keep all plants healthy and free from pests and diseases.
  • Maintain the appearance of decorative elements and top dressing.
  • Occasionally work from ladders up to 6ft to service tall plants and living wall systems.
  • Prevent damage to surrounding areas from water and moisture.
  • Maintain scenting and air purification equipment as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to our clients.
  • Build first-name relationships with clients to address their concerns and check in during each service.
  • Identify and communicate additional product needs to support business growth.
  • Complete electronic service reports to accurately document service activities.

Plantscape and Hygiene Service Installation

  • Assist with various plantscape installations, including interior and exterior container gardens, wall-mounted systems, and commercial plantscapes.
  • Safely load and unload materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with teammates to securely hang and mount wall installations.
  • Plant vessels with a diverse range of plants.

Holiday Decoration Installation and Removal

  • Assist with holiday decoration installations, enhancing the interior and exterior of buildings as part of a team.
  • Help remove holiday decorations at the end of the season as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in plant care is preferred.
  • Experience in client interaction.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and ability to operate a van or truck.
  • Capability to safely climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Familiarity with using pruners, scissors, and other sharp tools.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a motor vehicle record check.

Base pay range: $17 - $20.58 per hour.
