Job Summary

Virginia Jobs is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Administrator to join our team in the School of Medicine's Clinical Departments. As an HR Administrator, you will play a critical role in supporting faculty and staff within our clinical departments, providing expert guidance on HR policy and procedures, and ensuring compliance with university and health system policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Human Resources Management and Administration:
    • Oversee the day-to-day HR functions for the department, ensuring timely and accurate execution in accordance with University and Health System policies and procedures.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and internal resource for HR policy and procedures, providing guidance on recruitment, hiring, performance management, process improvement, benefits, leaves, compensation, employee relations, payroll, timekeeping, and terminations.
    • Collaborate with Division Chairs and Department Administrators to initiate and complete recruitment processes in Talent/Cornerstone.
    • Apply knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and policies, rules, and regulations for Human Resources.
    • Responsible for maintaining and communicating HR policies to department staff and faculty regarding leaves, recruiting, compensation, and other HR-related matters.
    • Oversee departmental compliance with HR policy and procedure and other department-level HR initiatives.
    • Maintain all records, processing needs, and changes for staff and faculty, including PAF changes.
    • Attend required training sessions and meetings, including HR partners.
    • Update Department Chair, Administrator, and Financial Manager on all HR-related activities and policy/procedural changes.
    • Create and update policies and procedures related to staff human resources activities and management.
    • Counsel and guide Associate Administrators, Division Chairs, and other supervisors on HR-related matters, including disciplinary procedures, recruitment, hiring, and staff development.
    • Coordinate all VCUHS HR efforts and processes for the Department and each Division.
    • Provide training to all staff and faculty on VCU and VCUHS initiatives, updates, and policy/procedure changes.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Participate in special projects identified in support of the School of Medicine and VCU's new Great Place policy and service delivery model.
    • Provide backup support for the SOM HR team.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required, along with relevant experience in HR administration. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, with the ability to analyze complex HR issues and develop effective solutions.
