Job Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional human resources assistance to all staff, supervisors, and management. Offer guidance to employees regarding timekeeping systems, payroll, benefits, and the onboarding process. Execute payroll transactions related to HR activities. Facilitate education and training for personnel on Federal/State/DOC/DHRM policies and procedures. Oversee background checks, including fingerprinting and drug screenings when necessary. Manage the onboarding process and timekeeping systems efficiently.
Employment Details
This is a wage position with a cap of 1,500 working hours per agency within a designated 12-month timeframe. The employment period resets annually. Wage employees are restricted to an average of 29 hours per week. This position does not include state benefits.
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Familiarity with timekeeping practices is essential. Must possess the ability to interpret and apply general human resource policies and procedures. Proficiency in PC operations, including various HRRM databases, is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage detailed and time-sensitive tasks effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to interact professionally with diverse levels of staff and visitors. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Candidates should be adaptable to a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
Additional Skills
Knowledge of timekeeping practices is advantageous. Advanced understanding of business operations, office practices, and automated business applications is preferred. Experience with various software applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and DocuSign, is beneficial. A general understanding of benefits administration, including leave policies, healthcare, and compensation programs, is desirable.
