Job Summary

Medi-Rents and Sales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager of Shipping and Receiving Operations to join our team. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the shipping and receiving staff, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of shipments and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the shipping and receiving staff, ensuring timely and accurate processing of shipments and inventory management.
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in receiving, storing, and inventorying materials, supplies, tools, and equipment in the warehouse.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Supervise shipping and receiving staff who count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, or other records.
  • Ensure all items on the delivery ticket are picked and packed correctly, and correctly document Lot #s, Expiration dates, and serial numbers on the delivery ticket.
  • Monitor shipping methods via truck or FedEx.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials.
  • Ensure shipments are packed into boxes correctly, bind containers with tape or strapping machine when necessary, and stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
  • Assist with unboxing and examination of shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Assist management with maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Operate lift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Participate in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities.
  • Participate in traditional and e-learning (VGM U) programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
  • Perform all job functions with company Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements in mind.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months industry-related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of computers, software, and products applicable to the industry.
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Math ability to apply mathematical concepts such as calculating figures and amounts to practical situations.
  • Supervisory requirements, including interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Reasoning ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of complex mathematical instruction and information through analytical collection of factual data to produce logical solutions and/or conclusions where only limited standardization exists.
  • Language and communication ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide.
  • Physical demands, including ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, and stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
  • Technology skills, including proficiency and productivity in a fast-paced environment with unscheduled interruptions, and ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company-specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks.
