Job Overview:
The Assistant Manager of Shipping and Receiving is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the shipping and receiving personnel. This role supports the Warehouse Manager in managing the receipt, storage, inventory, and dispatch of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment within the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the shipping and receiving staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items against bills of lading, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Ensure accurate documentation of Lot numbers, expiration dates, and serial numbers on delivery tickets.
- Monitor shipping methods and maintain an inventory of shipping materials.
- Assist in unboxing and inspecting shipments, documenting any damages or shortages, and communicating with shippers to resolve issues.
- Operate lift trucks or hand trucks to transport shipments to storage or work areas.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.
- Foster effective collaboration with other employees, managers, and departments.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with relevant work experience or training in the industry. Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to the field is essential, as is the ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work in a standard office environment and utilize standard office equipment. Candidates must have the stamina to maintain focus and attention to detail, as well as the physical capability to lift and move items as needed.
Technology Skills:
Proficiency in personal computer use, including word processing, spreadsheet, and inventory management software, is required. The ability to quickly learn company-specific software is also necessary.
