Position Overview

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. (CBM), a prominent accounting and business advisory firm serving clients across various regions, is in search of a committed audit specialist. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of experience in public accounting and auditing, with additional tax experience considered advantageous. Strong organizational abilities and proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, are essential. Familiarity with CCH Suite, including Engagement, Document, and BNA portfolios, is a plus.

Remote work options and flexible scheduling are available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to discuss audit strategies and outcomes, fostering professional relationships.
  • Formulate an engagement work plan and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Review and prepare financial statements, footnotes, work papers, tax returns, and management letters.
  • Conduct analysis and research on atypical transactions, considering both tax and accounting implications.
  • Investigate tax strategies.
  • Generate new business opportunities.
  • Oversee, mentor, and nurture junior staff members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • An advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is strongly desired.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in public accounting or controllership roles.
  • At least three years of management experience with the capability to lead and develop professional teams.
  • Proficiency in computer software and applications (experience with CCH Suite, QuickBooks, and BNA portfolios is advantageous).
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and effectively prioritize tasks.
