The Health and Environmental Safety Specialist will assist in the formulation of site Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and strategic plans that align with corporate standards and applicable laws. This role will implement specific components of the site SHE strategy and aid in the adherence to company SHE protocols.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design, organize, and deliver SHE-related training sessions, including topics such as work permits, incident analysis, root cause evaluation, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Perform risk evaluations on various operational equipment and tasks to assess potential hazards and propose mitigation strategies to relevant teams.
- Facilitate environmental compliance by overseeing waste management, air quality assessments, and sustainability reporting.
- Assist in the Management of Change process by evaluating modifications for SHE implications.
- Develop and enhance occupational health initiatives, including conducting Health Risk Assessments and implementing programs like Hearing Conservation and Respiratory Protection.
- Support the site in the formulation and execution of the SHE Plan.
- Provide guidance on a broad spectrum of SHE-related matters.
- Contribute to the Emergency Response Plan through training and drill facilitation.
- Conduct drills and address identified deficiencies.
- Perform audits to ensure compliance with SHE standards and monitor the implementation of the SHE Plan.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations, exercising sound judgment in decision-making.
- Guide teams through Root Cause Analysis processes to identify effective solutions to incidents.
- Maintain the Incident Reporting system for the site.
- Oversee site safety metrics reporting to meet internal and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with corporate SHE to fulfill internal reporting obligations.

Your Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a technical or SHE-related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in SHE-related roles, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing context.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, along with a solid understanding of established SHE practices.
- Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US OSHA regulations applicable to general industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advisory skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
