The Sustainability and Safety Compliance Specialist will assist in the formulation of site Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and both annual and long-term strategies in alignment with corporate standards and applicable laws and regulations. This role will execute specific components of the site SHE strategy and aid in the implementation and upkeep of the organization's SHE protocols.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, organize, and deliver SHE-related training sessions, including work permits, incident analysis, root cause evaluation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and more.
  • Perform risk evaluations as necessary on various operational equipment and tasks to assess risks and suggest mitigation strategies to relevant stakeholders (e.g., production, maintenance).
  • Facilitate environmental compliance by overseeing waste management processes, air emissions tracking, and Triple P reporting.
  • Assist in the Management of Change process, including evaluating changes for SHE implications.
  • Develop and support occupational health initiatives, including conducting Health Risk Assessments, industrial hygiene planning, and the creation of related programs such as Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and Ergonomics.
  • Support the site in preparing and executing the SHE Plan.
  • Provide guidance on a broad spectrum of SHE-related matters.
  • Contribute to the Emergency Response Plan through participation and support in training activities.
  • Design and conduct drills while addressing identified deficiencies.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with SHE standards and monitor the progress of SHE Plan implementation.
  • Possess the capability to lead or participate in incident investigations, exercising sound judgment based on the circumstances.
  • Guide team members through the site Root Cause Analysis process to identify valid causes and solutions to incidents.
  • Maintain the Incident Reporting system for the site.
  • Oversee site safety metric reporting to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with corporate SHE to fulfill internal reporting obligations.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or SHE-related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in various SHE-related roles, with at least 2 years in manufacturing-related SHE responsibilities.
  • A strong capacity for conceptual and analytical thinking, along with a solid understanding of widely accepted SHE practices.
  • Basic knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with US OSHA regulations as they pertain to general industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advisory skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
