Job Title: Referral Coordinator

The Woodlands Specialty Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team. As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth coordination of patient referrals and appointments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Referral Coordination: Assist healthcare facilities and patients with coordinating referral appointments and sending referrals in a timely manner.
  • Documentation and Communication: Accurately maintain documentation on referrals via spreadsheet and EMR system, and provide clinical information to specialists as requested.
  • Patient Communication: Review details and expectations about the referral with patients, and ensure that referrals are processed in a timely manner.
  • Referral Source Communication: Communicate with referral sources to determine if patients have been scheduled, and initiate authorized referrals for patients when insurance requires it.
  • Administrative Support: Perform other duties as assigned, and maintain confidentiality of patient-related issues and adhere to all HIPAA rules and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent, and 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, and ability to use technology efficiently and effectively.
  • Professional Maturity: Ability to separate emotional feelings from the real issues at hand, and demonstrate responsibility, communication, flexibility, intelligence, and energy.
Work Environment:

The Referral Coordinator will work in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The physical demands of this position include adequate vision, hearing, and repetitive motion, and light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
