Position Overview:

The Senior Engineer II (Civil - Structural) will oversee, coordinate, and direct the civil structural division for EPC terminal and facility projects within the midstream oil and gas sector. Responsibilities include the planning and execution of civil structural tasks, nurturing client relationships, resource allocation, aiding in proposal preparation, and supervising a team of civil structural designers, drafters, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the workload of the civil structural team to ensure project deliverables are produced within the defined scope, budget, and timeline, in compliance with client specifications.
  • Oversee department resource allocation, scheduling, and execution, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Collaborate with designers to create preliminary layouts using engineering notes, field sketches, and other relevant information.
  • Lead project 3D model reviews and engineering/design/quality assessments with civil structural and other discipline teams.
  • Evaluate civil structural packages, calculations, and other project deliverables for adherence to QA/QC protocols.
  • Organize and maintain all aspects of civil structural deliverables from inception to completion.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates as the designated project lead.
  • Conduct site visits for bid assessments and to gather field measurements as necessary.
  • Coordinate laser scanning activities with subcontractors.
  • Prepare civil structural man-hour and deliverable estimates for proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and PMT team members to achieve project objectives as directed by the Project Manager and Department Director.
  • Manage job descriptions, conduct interviews, and oversee annual reviews for team personnel.
  • Implement and oversee development and training programs for the team.
  • Maintain and catalog all required software with regular reassessment and validation.
  • Ensure department workload planning, scheduling, and execution are conducted with a focus on quality outputs.
  • Support and adhere to directives from the Director of Terminals.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of engineering and design experience in terminal and/or midstream facility projects, specializing in civil structural engineering.
  • Field experience in project assessments and field sketching of structures and foundations.
  • Experience with pipe racks and/or chemical facilities.
  • Proficient in 3D design software including AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks, and laser scanning software such as Recap or Cloudworx.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, and PIP.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive civil and structural deliverables from start to finish.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred; a Master's degree is advantageous.

Licensure:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas is required.

Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cadworx, Navisworks, and other modeling software.
  • Experienced in structural and foundation finite element analysis (FEA) software such as STAAD or RISA.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to manage changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Capable of training and developing civil structural designers, drafters, and engineers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with effective listening abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills to work with diverse personnel.
  • Experience in supporting construction activities and providing timely solutions to field issues.
  • Demonstrated competency in team and personnel management.
  • Adept at assessing complex design challenges and offering cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to less experienced CAD users.
