Position Overview:

The Senior Engineer II (Civil - Structural) will take charge of overseeing, coordinating, and directing the civil structural division for EPC terminal and facility projects within the midstream oil and gas sector. Responsibilities encompass the planning and execution of civil structural tasks, nurturing client relationships, resource allocation, aiding in proposal preparation, and supervising a team of civil structural designers, drafters, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee civil structural team assignments to ensure project outputs are delivered within the defined scope, budget, and timeline, adhering to client specifications.
  • Manage departmental resource allocation, scheduling, and execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with designers to develop preliminary layouts using engineering notes, field sketches, and other relevant documentation.
  • Lead project 3D model evaluations and conduct engineering/design/quality reviews with civil structural and other discipline teams.
  • Examine civil structural packages, calculations, and project deliverables for compliance with quality assurance and control procedures.
  • Organize and maintain all aspects of civil structural deliverables from inception to completion.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates as the designated project lead.
  • Conduct site visits for project assessments and to gather necessary field dimensions.
  • Coordinate laser scanning activities with subcontractors.
  • Prepare civil structural man-hour and deliverable estimates for proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams to achieve project objectives as directed by the Project Manager and Department Director.
  • Oversee job descriptions, interviews, annual evaluations, and team personnel management.
  • Implement and manage development and training initiatives for the team.
  • Maintain and catalog all required software with regular assessments and validations.
  • Ensure effective planning, scheduling, and execution of departmental workload while maintaining quality standards.
  • Support and adhere to directives from the Director of Terminals.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of engineering and design experience in terminal and/or midstream facilities, specializing in civil structural engineering.
  • Field experience in project assessments and field sketching of structures and foundations.
  • Experience with pipe racks and/or chemical facilities.
  • Proficient in 3D design software including AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks, and laser scanning software such as Recap or Cloudworx.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, and PIP.
  • Expertise in developing comprehensive civil and structural deliverables.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred; a Master's degree is advantageous.

Licensure:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas is mandatory.

Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cadworx, Navisworks, and other modeling software.
  • Skilled in structural and foundation finite element analysis (FEA) software such as STAAD or RISA for engineering calculations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
  • Strong time management skills with the capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Capability to mentor and develop civil structural designers, drafters, and engineers.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong listening abilities.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Experience in supporting construction activities and providing timely solutions to field issues.
  • Proven competency in team management and development.
  • Adept at evaluating complex design challenges and proposing cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to offer technical guidance to less experienced CAD users.
