Role Objective

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for the technical collaboration with our clients' engineering teams to devise and implement technical solutions, along with associated cost estimations, proposals, and performance guarantees for the application of Karno Generators in both stationary and mobile power generation sectors. This position necessitates close cooperation with Engineering, Sales, channel partners, and suppliers to deliver the most economical and dependable technical solutions that address customer requirements and inform future product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers during the pre-sales phase to convert their needs into effective technical solutions for Karno generators within the power generation sector, playing a crucial role in the inquiry-to-order process alongside the sales and business development teams.
  • Prepare and compile comprehensive techno-commercial responses, including detailed project specification analyses, pricing strategies, construction estimates, and subcontractor scopes of work, while liaising with third-party vendors for Karno Generators and related equipment in response to RFPs/RFQs and project inquiries.
  • Provide engineering documentation, data, and training to clients to assist in the design and integration of equipment into their site solutions.
  • Develop QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) and commissioning documentation as required, demonstrating a solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical design and engineering solutions.
  • Promote Karno Generator solutions to clients by articulating product advantages and value additions at conferences, industry forums, and key customer partnership meetings.
  • Serve as a resident expert in stationary and mobile power generation applications, collaborating with product management and engineering teams to create a robust product portfolio.
  • Assist in the on-site commissioning of Karno generators, addressing system issues, and providing recommendations on applicable features and software settings.
  • Contribute to the formulation and standardization of pricing models, quotation tools, and processes to enhance customer service and improve proposal efficiency.
  • Establish strong working relationships with customer technical teams, acting as their primary contact for product-related technical inquiries, resolving complex installation challenges, and facilitating customer requests.
  • Ensure that Karno Generators are correctly applied and installed to meet design specifications, customer system requirements, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as necessary.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar application engineering role within the Power Generation industry is essential.

Preferred Specialized Knowledge/Certifications

  • Familiarity with basic to medium complexity specifications for engineered projects.
  • Understanding of industry standards and codes such as NEMA, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, UL, etc.
  • Knowledge of industry requirements and emissions standards relevant to the stationary and mobile power generation sectors (EPA, CARB DG, etc.).
  • Experience in the design and development of microgrids or projects involving natural gas, waste gas, or cogeneration is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in EPC project engineering, product conceptual design, and system-level trade-off assessments is a strong plus.

Skills

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of relevant markets, relationships with industry stakeholders, and insights into key factors that contribute to successful bids.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of best practices and is technically adept at understanding the competitive landscape and differentiating factors in the market.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to external partners and clients.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to working with electrical and electronic equipment, with a proven ability to represent company interests in developing customer relationships and ensuring long-term satisfaction.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing subcontractor scopes of work and agreements, along with familiarity with GSA purchasing requirements and evaluating proposals for compliance with specifications.
