Role Summary:
The Sensor Operator will be tasked with managing various aerial sensors to gather data during flights on a small twin-engine aircraft. This position demands a keen eye for detail, the capability to operate in limited spaces for prolonged durations, and a readiness to travel as necessary. You will play a crucial role in the flight crew, ensuring data is collected with accuracy and in alignment with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and oversee aerial sensors during flights to gather high-quality data for multiple projects (e.g., mapping, surveying, reconnaissance).
  • Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks on sensor equipment to verify operational integrity.
  • Collaborate with pilots and fellow crew members to facilitate precise and efficient data collection.
  • Analyze the gathered data and deliver timely reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot sensor equipment as required to reduce downtime and ensure accurate data capture.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures during flight operations.
  • Ensure adherence to aviation regulations and industry standards throughout all operations.
  • Document data collection processes and maintain thorough records for quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required; additional certification in relevant areas (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, aviation) is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in sensor operations, data collection, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aerial sensors and data collection technologies is essential.
  • Ability to work in a confined aircraft for extended periods (3-5 hours per flight).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with a focus on detail in data collection and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including remote areas.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with pilots and other crew members.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and maintain sensor equipment as necessary.
