Role Summary:
The Sensor Operator will play a crucial role in operating a range of aerial sensors to gather data during flights aboard a small twin-engine aircraft. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, the capacity to work in limited spaces for extended durations, and a readiness to travel as required. You will be a vital member of the flight crew, ensuring data is collected accurately and meets client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and oversee aerial sensors during flights to gather high-quality data for diverse projects such as mapping, surveying, and reconnaissance.
  • Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks on sensor equipment to confirm all systems are operational.
  • Collaborate with pilots and fellow crew members to guarantee precise and efficient data collection.
  • Analyze the gathered data and provide prompt reports to clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot sensor equipment as necessary to reduce downtime and ensure accurate data acquisition.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures throughout flight operations.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and industry standards during all activities.
  • Document data collection processes and maintain accurate records for quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional certification in relevant fields such as GIS, remote sensing, or aviation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sensor operations, data collection, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aerial sensors and data collection technologies.
  • Ability to work in a confined aircraft for extended periods (3-5 hours per flight).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail in data collection and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including remote areas.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with pilots and other crew members.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and maintain sensor equipment as required.
