Job Overview

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, this role involves engaging in initiatives that foster student, family, and community involvement. The individual will collaborate closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and support staff to ensure the effective operation of programs aimed at enhancing community relations and engagement, including partnerships with external organizations.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Assistant Principal.

Key Relationships:

Establishes and maintains constructive professional relationships with the entire school community, including students, parents, administration, faculty, and community partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Support school-based initiatives that encourage student participation, parental involvement, and community outreach.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of community programs aimed at providing services to students.
  • Aid in the organization of student activities, including after-school programs and college tours.
  • Provide support to the Principal and other staff in outreach efforts to the community.
  • Assist with after-school events or community engagement activities.
  • Participate in projects designed to enhance engagement, opportunities, and success for students, families, and the school community.
  • Promote and encourage participation in school-related community development initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and community groups for school-based events.
  • Help develop school program and community event calendars.
  • Offer translation services over the phone to parents to facilitate community building.
  • Assist with attendance outreach to promote student success.
  • Familiarize oneself with attendance expectations and communicate them to parents.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with families and parents on educational or community matters.
  • Relevant experience in areas related to the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Familiarity with the New York City public school system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Flexibility in work hours is required to meet the needs of the school community, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Use of vacation and/or compensatory time is subject to approval by the school principal.

Salary:

Salary range based on experience and qualifications.
