Position Overview: ARC is in search of a talented and driven professional with expertise and enthusiasm for shaping the housing landscape of our region. The Senior Housing Planner will be an integral member of the Economic Development team within the Community Development Department. This role will focus on the management and enhancement of the Metro Atlanta Housing Strategy (MAHS) and regional housing planning initiatives, including comprehensive plans and grant applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct long-range planning studies, including data assessment and analysis, public engagement coordination, and meeting facilitation.
  • Develop and manage local comprehensive plans and related planning documents.
  • Act as a project manager for significant regional initiatives and serve as a liaison with various governmental officials.
  • Formulate new strategies and initiatives while managing budgets and contracts.
  • Engage with partners and stakeholders to foster relationships and provide expert consultation on housing matters.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on regional housing issues, data, and strategies to community organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate housing considerations across agency initiatives.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in urban or regional planning, economics, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of professional planning experience. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience that fulfills the essential duties of the role will be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of housing policies and solutions.
  • Understanding of land use and transportation policies and their community impacts.
  • Ability to engage in inclusive and equitable community outreach.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database technology.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented project manager who can navigate multiple projects and deadlines while working collaboratively within a team environment.
