Urban Planner II Job Summary

The City of Atlanta Department of City Planning is seeking a highly skilled Urban Planner II to play a critical role in shaping the physical design of the city and creating vibrant public spaces that cultivate public life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of public art projects and programs, including the Love Our Places initiative and the Atlanta City Studio.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to create engaging public programming and events that promote community development and public art.
  • Assist in the creation of cultural programming and events that enhance the reach and welcome of non-traditional participants through unique and inclusive engagement techniques.
  • Partner with the Office of Housing and Community Development to leverage public art as a tool in community development.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the use of the Atlanta City Studio as a resource for other programming and outreach with like-minded goals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in urban planning, public art, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of urban design, community development, and public art principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
