This role involves executing high-complexity CLIA testing as part of the laboratory's daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
+ Conduct intricate molecular procedures, including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, and qPCR, ensuring high-quality results in line with established protocols.
+ Maintain thorough documentation for all procedural steps according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Comply with the laboratory's quality control standards and meticulously document all quality control activities.
+ Assist in training fellow technologists as needed.
+ Engage in routine maintenance of laboratory instruments on a weekly and monthly basis.
+ Troubleshoot any issues that may negatively impact test performance or result reporting.
+ Record corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance criteria.
+ Undertake independent projects and responsibilities beyond standard tasks.
Qualifications
Who You Are & What You Bring
+ Possess a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science with structured clinical laboratory experience; or
+ Hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science with a minimum of six months of relevant full-time laboratory experience; or
+ ASCP certification in MB, MLS/MT, or MLT is preferred.
+ Prior experience with molecular techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, and qPCR is highly desirable.
+ Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
+ Proficient in computer usage; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
+ Exhibit a high level of attention to detail, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
+ Must successfully complete a standardized pipette competency assessment.
