Position Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Lab Coordinator to join our Cellular Engineering Team. This role involves close collaboration with scientists and operational teams to facilitate the effective organization and management of the R&D laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high level of motivation, and a willingness to learn and adapt. Individuals with a passion for science and operations will thrive in this position and will find numerous opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management of laboratory operations, including organization, sample tracking, supply chain coordination, equipment management, IT support, and health and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with facilities to plan and schedule the installation, qualification, calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Engage regularly with scientists and operational teams to identify and resolve workflow challenges.
  • Provide orientation and support for onboarding new scientists.
  • Uphold safety protocols and maintain high standards of laboratory hygiene in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support the Cellular Engineering team with electronic lab notebook management (Benchling).
  • Foster positive relationships with sales representatives and technical specialists.
  • Prepare documentation and presentations to effectively communicate updates and information to the Cellular Engineering teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities or laboratory management, with industry experience being highly desirable.
  • Experience in personnel management is advantageous.
  • Prior laboratory experience in biological research is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and independence by proactively identifying and addressing areas for improvement to enhance laboratory workflow and efficiency.
  • Adaptability to pivot and re-prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in handling laboratory chemicals and biological materials, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Physical capability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting and prolonged standing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Must be authorized to work legally in the United States.
