**Position Overview**
As a key member of our Clinical laboratory team, you will be responsible for executing complex testing procedures under the guidance of the Clinical Operations Manager. This role may also involve supervisory responsibilities, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards for high complexity laboratories.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Conduct advanced molecular biology tests while adhering to protocols established by the Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Director.
+ Play a pivotal role in enhancing test performance by mentoring and guiding fellow technologists as needed.
+ Engage in the development, optimization, validation, and verification of laboratory tests utilizing molecular biology methodologies.
+ Ensure proper specimen handling, testing, and reporting while maintaining meticulous records of patient results.
+ Uphold proficiency testing standards by treating samples with the same rigor as patient specimens.
+ Follow stringent quality control measures, documenting all related activities, calibrations, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
+ Address any performance issues with test systems promptly, collaborating with supervisors to implement corrective actions.
+ Maintain compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe laboratory environment.
+ Keep accurate and current laboratory documentation and records.
+ Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, during all laboratory activities.
+ Manage laboratory supplies and reagents to foster an efficient workflow.

**Qualifications**
**Who You Are**
**_Supervisory Qualified_**
To be considered for supervisory roles, candidates must meet New York State requirements and participate in the Supervisor Competency program as applicable.
1. **Candidates must possess:**
1. **A Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant scientific field with 4+ years of experience in a molecular clinical laboratory,** **OR**
2. **A Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology with 4+ years of experience,** **OR**
3. **A Master of Science in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 2 years of experience in a molecular clinical laboratory post-graduation,** **OR**
4. **A Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific field with at least 1 year of experience in molecular laboratory specialties.**
2. **Relevant certifications or licensure as required by state regulations.**
**_Non-Supervisory Qualified:_**
For candidates without supervisory responsibilities, the following qualifications are necessary:
1. **Candidates must possess:**
1. **A Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant scientific field with 2-4 years of experience in a molecular clinical laboratory,** **OR**
2. **A Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology with 2-4 years of experience.**
**Preferred certifications include ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) as an MLS Medical Laboratory Scientist, MT Medical Technologist, MLT-Medical Laboratory Technician, or MB-Molecular Biology specialist.**
