Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Exercise Performance Coach is responsible for delivering personalized and group training sessions, offering expert guidance to members on their fitness capabilities and techniques to ensure safe and effective workout experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver individualized and group training sessions, providing expert guidance and techniques to members to facilitate safe and effective exercise experiences in line with the MBSC Thrive program.
  • Inspire and educate members towards adopting a healthier lifestyle, collaborating with other professionals (such as nutritionists and healthcare providers) as necessary.
  • Conduct initial fitness assessments to establish baseline measurements for members.
  • Build strong relationships with members, promoting active engagement and growth of programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete necessary reports and forms.
  • Ensure the upkeep of fitness equipment to guarantee safety and functionality for members.
  • Keep the training area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with all staff members to deliver exceptional service to our members.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure a robust program delivery within established guidelines.
  • Participate in scheduled departmental meetings and required training sessions throughout the year.
  • Pursue ongoing education opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain relevant certifications.
  • May be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Foster a positive atmosphere for all members, staff, and guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nationally recognized Personal Trainer certification is mandatory, to be maintained throughout employment. CSCS or other sports performance certifications are preferred.
  • Proven experience in fitness and strength training is required.
  • Experience in team sports at various levels is preferred.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology, or a related health and fitness field is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess reliable transportation for commuting between facilities and throughout the community as needed during work hours.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with sound judgment are essential.
  • CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

  • Able to visually and audibly monitor clients' activities.
  • Effective communication with management, staff, and others in person, by phone, and in writing is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates primarily in exercise, recreational, and office settings. The employee may frequently encounter the scents associated with swimming pools and exercise areas. The role involves working varying hours and days, with occasional travel within the community to various organizations. There may be rare exposure to bodily fluids or physical exertion during emergency situations; however, risks are minimized by adhering to established safety protocols.
