KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct and manage designated karate classes for members.
  • Build positive relationships with participants to tailor classes and promote engagement and program expansion.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to classes, including attendance tracking and necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with all fitness personnel to ensure high-quality service delivery to members.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure a robust program is delivered in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Participate in all mandatory departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Support the mission of the Association: "to provide social, physical, and recreational activities and services for members and their families."
  • May be required to undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ensure member satisfaction in line with the Association's mission.
  • Demonstrate understanding and adherence to Four Seasons' Core Values and Vision through professional conduct.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere for all members, staff, and guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain expertise in the Shotokan style of karate, suitable for the assigned classes.
  • Minimum age requirement of 16 years.
  • Strong judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment and maintained throughout the tenure.

  • Exhibit a strong enthusiasm for health and wellness.
  • Ability to navigate the fitness classroom areas, vocally lead classes, demonstrate karate techniques, and ensure a safe environment.
  • Capable of maintaining, wearing, and assisting participants with karate uniforms and safety gear.
  • Able to access all areas of the facility.
  • Must be able to visually and audibly monitor participants' activities.
  • Effective communication with management, staff, and others in person, via telephone, and in writing is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position regularly operates within exercise, recreation, and office settings. The employee may be exposed to various odors from swimming pools and exercise areas, as well as loud music in cardio and fitness classrooms. The role may involve working varying hours and days, with occasional travel around the community for outreach purposes. There may be exposure to bodily fluids or physical exertion during emergency situations; however, risks are mitigated by adherence to established safety protocols.
