Martial Arts Instructor

SUMMARY: The role involves delivering expert instruction in karate classes, ensuring a safe, effective, and enjoyable environment for a diverse range of participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct and instruct designated karate classes for members.
• Build strong relationships with participants to tailor classes and promote engagement and growth of the program.
• Manage class-related tasks such as attendance tracking and necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with fellow fitness staff to ensure a high standard of service for members.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure a robust program delivery in line with established guidelines.
• Participate in all mandatory departmental meetings and training sessions.
• Support the mission of the Association: 'to provide social, physical, and recreational activities and services for members and their families.'
• Be open to performing additional tasks as required.
• Strive for member satisfaction within the Association's mission.
• Exemplify and uphold the core values and vision of Four Seasons through professional conduct.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere for all members, staff, and guests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven knowledge and technical skill in the Shotokan style of karate, appropriate for the assigned classes.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Strong judgment, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
• CPR/AED certification is required within 30 days of employment and must be maintained throughout the tenure.

• Effective communication skills with management, staff, and others in person, via phone, and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position regularly involves working in exercise, recreational, and office settings. The employee may be exposed to the odors of swimming pools and exercise areas, as well as loud music in cardio spaces and fitness studios. The role may require varying hours and days, and occasional travel within the community for outreach to companies and organizations. There may be exposure to bodily fluids or significant physical exertion during emergency situations; however, risks are mitigated by following established safety protocols.
