POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Coach for the Swim Team plays a crucial role in overseeing swim practices, delivering coaching, and collaborating with the Head Coach to lead the Four Seasons Stingrays Swim Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Head Coach in organizing daily training sessions.
  • Encourage a team atmosphere where swimmers demonstrate sportsmanship, enthusiasm for swimming, and a love for competition.
  • Actively coach various practice groups on a daily basis.
  • Provide immediate feedback to swimmers during practices and competitions regarding their performance.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with parents.
  • Volunteer for home swim meets and team-related events.
  • Participate in meetings with the Aquatics Manager and fellow coaches.
  • Foster positive relationships and communication with other aquatic staff to enhance service quality for members.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CPR/AED certification is mandatory or the ability to obtain it upon hiring.
  • Must be a member in good standing with USA Swimming and willing to acquire USA-S Coaching Certifications upon employment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required (older high school students may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • Prior coaching experience is preferred, or a strong understanding of competitive swimming and training.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for coaching youth swimmers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with Meet/Team Manager software is preferred, or the willingness to learn.
  • Ability to recommend effective solutions to problems while adhering to facility policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required safety certifications, concussion protocols, and safety training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates regularly in exercise, recreational, and office settings, utilizing cleaning and maintenance equipment. Regular exposure to swimming pool odors, exercise areas, chemicals, and cleaning supplies is expected. Occasional exposure to bodily fluids or physical exertion during emergency situations may occur; risks are mitigated by adherence to established safety protocols. The role requires flexibility in working hours and days according to the schedule.
