Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Assistant Coach for the Swim Team plays a vital role in overseeing swim team practices, delivering coaching, and collaborating with the Head Coach to guide the Four Seasons Stingrays Swim Team.

They should strive for member satisfaction in alignment with our mission: "to provide social, physical, and recreational activities and services for members and their families." KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Head Coach in organizing daily practice sessions.
  • Encourage a team environment where swimmers display sportsmanship, enthusiasm for swimming, and a love for competition.
  • Actively coach one or more practice groups each day.
  • Provide immediate feedback to swimmers during practices and competitions regarding their performance.
  • Coordinate communication with parents and assign responsibilities as needed.
  • Volunteer for home swim meets and team-related events.
  • Participate in meetings with the Aquatics Manager and fellow coaches.
  • Foster positive relationships and effective communication with other aquatic staff to ensure high-quality service for members.

MEMBER SATISFACTION:

  • Ensure member satisfaction in accordance with the mission of the Association.

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for all members, staff, and guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CPR/AED certification is required or the ability to obtain it upon hiring.
  • Must be a member in good standing with USA Swimming and willing to obtain USA-S Coaching Certifications.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required (older high school students may be considered individually).
  • Previous coaching experience is preferred, or a strong understanding of competitive swimming and training.
  • Passion for coaching youth swimmers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with Meet/Team Manager software is preferred, or the willingness to learn.
  • Ability to make sound recommendations to resolve issues in line with facility policies and procedures.
  • Complete necessary safety certifications and training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exhibit a lifestyle of health and fitness, both physically and emotionally, within personal capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, members, and others in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Ability to access all areas of the facilities, including multi-levels.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Regularly operates in exercise, recreational, and office settings, utilizing cleaning and maintenance equipment. Exposure to swimming pool environments, exercise areas, and cleaning supplies is common. Occasionally faces demanding physical situations during emergency responses; risks are mitigated by adherence to established safety protocols. Work hours and days may vary according to scheduling needs.
