Position Summary: We are currently seeking a Full-Time Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to oversee our Environment of Care compliance initiatives. This role involves the implementation, management, and refinement of policies aimed at enhancing the organization's environmental and safety performance, ensuring adherence to existing and forthcoming regulations and standards. The EHS Coordinator will lead EHS activities to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements and internal environmental policies. Key responsibilities include policy formulation, performance monitoring, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that facilities comply with all environmental health and safety regulations through audits and inspections conducted by internal and external entities.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff, including training and oversight on hazardous materials, waste management, and associated risks.
  • Conduct audits to assess and ensure that administrative and engineering controls are suitable for the facility's risk level.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of multidisciplinary problem-solving efforts.
  • Initiate benchmarking activities to measure performance.
  • Coordinate audits conducted by regulatory agencies.
  • Recognize and navigate the political dynamics involved in multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proactively develop and implement innovative methods to maintain industry-leading practices.
  • Facilitate the development of team members through various assignments and training opportunities.
  • Stay updated in the field and apply new knowledge effectively.
  • Identify compliance issues and coordinate a team of experts to resolve them.
  • Oversee project progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide expert insight into diverse chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
  • Recommend and develop action plans for resolving issues.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Review proposed regulations and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build trust with internal and external clients by meeting commitments and maintaining compliance programs.
  • Encourage a culture of learning and development.
  • Act as a Health and Safety advisor to various committees.
  • Offer constructive feedback to support the growth of colleagues.
  • Interpret regulations and guidelines using scientific knowledge to make informed decisions.
  • Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary functions within EHS and across all properties.
  • Participate in the emergency on-call program.
  • Adhere to internal controls and reporting structures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CIHQ, CMS regulations, and Life Safety Code.
  • Experience conducting EHS audits, inspections, and surveys, including documentation and corrective action tracking.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures that ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Proven capability to train staff on applicable regulatory standards.
  • Ability to instruct employees on internal EHS policies and procedures.
  • Deliver safety training for new and existing employees.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of EHS policies and regulations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, natural, or applied sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • One or more recognized EHS professional certifications, such as:
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
    • Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
    • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

Compensation: Salary will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment.
