Environmental, Health & Safety Operations Manager

Location: Houston, TX - Onsite

Industry: Heavy Plastics Recycling

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus bonus

We are collaborating with a pioneering organization focused on enhancing plastic recycling rates significantly by addressing challenging materials. They are in the process of establishing a state-of-the-art facility in Houston, TX, aimed at becoming operational soon. As the EHS Operations Manager, your primary responsibility will be to design and execute Health & Safety initiatives for a groundbreaking facility. You will also lead the training and implementation efforts, requiring a candidate who is both inventive and resourceful, willing to engage directly with floor staff to promote effective EH&S practices throughout the organization.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, executing, and educating staff on health, safety, and environmental policies and programs, ensuring adherence to regulations and industry best practices.
  • Documenting and maintaining essential records such as training logs, workplace hazard evaluations, and compliance documentation, including OSHA reports and medical surveillance data.
  • Conducting regular EHS inspections, investigating incidents, and driving corrective measures while monitoring progress to completion.
  • Leading the Safety Committee, fostering continuous improvement through collaborative audits and promoting safety culture initiatives.
  • Overseeing third-party safety consultants and working alongside HR to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to drug testing and other safety protocols.

Qualifications required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental and/or safety compliance, ideally within a PSM-regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing EHS programs and delivering safety training.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory matters, including OSHA, EPA, and state regulations, with an emphasis on injury prevention and business continuity.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication abilities, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
