Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on safety training for employees and contractors to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and company policies while promoting best practices.
  • Oversee and verify that personnel are assigned the necessary training for safe work practices, maintaining records of certifications and expiration dates, and reporting any discrepancies to management.
  • Facilitate EHS orientations for employees and contractors, educating them on new and revised procedures, processes, and regulations.
  • Record, investigate, and communicate any identified unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents to the appropriate management personnel.
  • Document and report any observed improper conduct that may jeopardize the safety of individuals or others.
  • Conduct regular audits of the facility to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company policies, escalating issues as needed.
  • Develop and implement Emergency Action Plans, coordinating with local emergency services and scheduling drills as the site emergency coordinator.
  • Manage the maintenance of ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.
  • Propose enhancements to the EHS program to ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring changes in regulations and safety practices, researching best practices, and liaising with relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Compile and analyze EHS-related data from the facility, providing timely reports to management.
  • Oversee the workers' compensation process, ensuring accurate and timely claims management in collaboration with HR.
  • Administer the site drug and alcohol program in coordination with HR.
  • Review and suggest revisions to EHS-related contracts and agreements with third-party suppliers.

General Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Proven ability to interpret and comply with OSHA and other relevant environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Established successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel less than 5% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Safety Professional or equivalent.
  • Experience in environments certified under ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Experience working with field service organizations.
