Job Summary

This role is within the Commercial Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Mechanical Design team in GE Aviation's Engineering Division.

The team is responsible for the design and development of CMC components within the High-Pressure-Turbine (HPT) and Combustor Module of the GE9X and LEAP Commercial Turbofan engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support projects focused on durability and fleet support for CMC HPT components.
  • Drive design and manufacturing changes to meet program requirements.
  • Organize and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design and analysis, materials engineering, data science, manufacturing, quality, and program management.
  • Implement lessons learned from other programs and new fleet findings into the next iteration of the component design.
  • Support component delivery efforts, assist engine test assemblies, and improve component producibility through design and manufacturing changes.
  • Provide mentorship to early-career individuals in engineering and manufacturing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university and 6+ years prior relevant engineering experience, OR an Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university and 4+ years prior relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; experience in influencing and leading small teams.
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated project management expertise.
  • Effective problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to make appropriate risk-based decisions.
  • Ability to mentor others in resolving complex problems.
  • Familiarity with hardware ownership, jet engines, hot section design, and/or combustor design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Unigraphics NX), GD&T, and assembly stack-ups.
  • Prior involvement working RCCAs/TOPS8Ds.
  • Composite design and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Non-conformance review, or Material Review Board (MRB) experience.
