Job Summary

The Advanced Product Development Section at GE Aviation is inventing the future of flight and advancing propulsion capability for the next generation of military applications.

This role is part of the APD – Mechanical Design team, responsible for leading elements of the mechanical design and development for an Edison Works New Product Introduction (NPI) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives and sub-system teams by lending a depth of expertise or breadth of experience to less experienced teammates.
  • Direct hardware ownership and mentoring in the areas of mechanical design fundamentals, finite element analysis, test, GD&T, producibility, and engine certification.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of engine systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of hot structures design and use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and explain difficult or sensitive information to build consensus.
  • Apply understanding of business drivers to prioritize and execute assigned objectives and drive cross-team initiatives or lead small project teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to the team, prepare and present technical data to customers, and document technical data generated by the assigned project.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in a relevant aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
